HELL RACERS

As the concept/ asset artist, I was tasked with creating the initial designs of the karts, as well as modeling and texturing each of them. The game itself consisted of four members.

As a passenger in a possessed kart, the player's survival hinges on their ability to sabotage the demonic driver's attempts to drive them to Hell.

I designed several karts under the premise that they would need to be accessible to both a passenger and a driver. Inspired by the "Hell" theme, I modeled one base vehicle after scorpions. The design was then refined so that both the player and the passenger would have an unobstructed view of the race track.

Variation

Each kart variation was inspired by a different interpretation of the afterlife. Even a couple modern day interpretations were included. However, the strong variation in color and design assured that there would be a kart for every preference.

Stretch Goal

Stretch Goal

If there was reasonable time remaining after completing functional karts, organic passengers would have been added. If that stretch goal was completed, drivers would have been added as well. The passengers were given first priority because the kart could be referred to as "possessed" without damaging the immersion.
